Project ABC
Naturalistic Study. As young children enter preschool or kindergarten, they must learn to cope with or adapt to teachers, classmates, and classroom rules and expectations. Currently, we are collaborating with Becky Gates Children’s Center (the university affiliated preschool). We’re interested in finding out what types of behaviors and teacher-student or peer interactions help preschool and school-aged children manage or deal with emotions. We visit classrooms to observe children as they interact with their teachers and classmates.
Laboratory Assessment. Our child development laboratory is located in Heaton Hall at Texas A&M University, adjacent to the College of Education. Consistent with the over-arching goal of Project ABC, we’re interested in studying what helps preschool and school-aged children manage or deal with emotions. We’re inviting parents and their child to visit our assessment facility to participate in a few activities. During these activities, we will collect information using several different types measures including behavioral measures, physiological measures (heart rate and saliva sampling), and questionnaires. |
